Call Process - Letter from the Bishop

Dear Friends in Christ,

We have developed this page to assist in the transition that is the conclusion of one pastoral ministry and the beginning of a new one, sometimes known as a vacancy or interim period. Part of this information is about the call process and other information is about interim ministry.

We believe it is our Lord Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit, who guides the call process. The Spirit uses the partnership that is -- pastoral candidates, congregations, and synods.

The interim period and process for calling a pastor are opportunities for prayer, reflection, and self-discovery as congregations, open to the Spirit, seek a leader to navigate the path to the future.

We will partner with you to find appropriate pastoral leadership. A good fit between pastor and congregation is our goal, and serves our primary purpose of making disciples for Jesus Christ. When there is a good match between pastor and congregation, the mission of the church is enhanced.

We ask for your daily prayers that God will guide the process and strengthen our partnership for the sake of the Gospel.

In Christ,
Wayne N. Miller, Bishop
